Hallstatt

One of Rick Steves favourite places in Austria is a popular site for Austrian and German tourists but not so much for others. About a one hour drive south-east of Salzburg, it is a longer trip by rail: first go from Salzburg or Linz to Attnang-Puchhelm, then south to Hallstatt.
